My NES Coffee table

Its been a crazy few months, I haven't been on dofus all to much, only pop in a couple times every few weeks. Ive been busy cleaning up my house, fixing things, prepping it to be sold...

anywho when Im sick of cleaning and fixing, I build shit as my escape from my need-to-do list.

It has a working power button that lights up, the lid opens to reveal a lap sized wireless (working) NES controller. the lid is also useful for storing xbox 360 controllers, wii remotes, tv remotes etc. The back opens up where I store my stereo equipment. I use an IR repeater mounted in the power LED of the console to help remotes communicate to the receivers inside.

(Man, I haven't been on here in forever... I don't even know if the people on here recognize me...)

So while a couple of you people on imps who know me (-ish?), what you don't know is that I'm an art kid. I hang out with the artists in school, even though in reality I can easily fit in with the nerds (4.0 gpa, all classes above level, etc..). I like to think this social grouping is because of the way that I go about thinking: I'm actually right brained. But really, I'm actually very into art and make a lot of artwork in my free time.
This past school year at my high school, one of our art teachers retired, leaving a "department" of two people. One teaches upper level art, one teaches photography, and both spend part of their time teaching the art 1 class. Even when there were three art teachers, these classes used to be filled to the brim with 35 students each, and now that the school is short on art teachers, they actually had to tell students to choose other electives for their art credit. The reason why we haven't gotten another art teacher is because my high school is actually considered the worst in the district, so the funding goes to more academic departments. So our art department is actually shirked in terms of funding. And it isn't just my school: full art programs are being cut nationwide (in the US. I'm not sure about you international kids; it may or may not be similar).

What I am asking of you imps peeps is to go to this URL and scroll to the bottom of the page and click the share button. This URL leads to my application to the contest called "Make Art. Save Art.", which gives $5k to the art department of the school of the winner. The application is in two parts: an artwork part (self explanitory), and a written response to "What does art education mean to you?". The contest consists of two stages: a "sharing" phase, where you get people to share your work (it has to be through the button on the page. for example, this post does not count, sadly), and an actual judging phase, where the 5 with the most shares are judged. Whether or not you read (or like) my statement, I would like to ask as many of you to share the page (and repeat, for you can do it multiple times, but only once a day counts *hinthint*), but it would be nice if you did see my opinion on what art really is.

I would also like to mention that my statement is one of few that do not fall into the two major categories: the BS'ed ones ("art iz hwo i xpress myself" the end), or the selfish ones ("i support art education because I am an art major in college and wish to be an art teacher, so i need art education in schools so i can have a job").

Unfortunately, sharing is only available for twitter and facebook. If you feel uncomfortable about supporting this because I'm a complete stanger and everything, I understand, but I would really appreciate it if you did share the page.

Finished Year 12 last year and went straight into Uni at LaTrobe University doing a bachelor of science, at first I was Excited and stuff about getting into uni there because i'd been doing programs with them since year 9, but now after 8 months of it I'm really not feeling the same about my choice of course.

I've been thinking over the last 3-4 weeks abut dropping out, Working full-time for a year then doing a Tafe course in Laboratory Techniques which would allow me to work in a variety of labs as a Lab Tech.

I've pretty much made up my mind on this but I have no idea on how to tell my parents I'm going to drop out of uni considering they didn't want me to defer for a year before I started my course.... I'm kinda stuck ><

So I am about to re-enter the college scene from the comforts of my home. I need to complete my Business Management degree within 17 months. I have some previous college and some transferrable life experience points (military training) that can be applied, but I still need about 90 more credits. Anyway, I went to University of Phoenix online a few years ago and they charged over $1500 for one 3 credit class which is a bit outrageous. Since my college is paid for by Veterans Affairs Montgomery GI Bill, I don't want to bakrupt them with those kind of prices.

So, does anyone have experience with strictly online studies and have a recommendation for an accredited university that will not break the bank?

Last Tuesday Satoshi Kon has passed away at the age of 47 after losing a battle with cancer. He was a Japanese film director, not as well-known as Hayao Miyazaki, but still on a well-deserved second place. He's made some amazing movies such as Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers and Millennium Actress. He will sure be missed.

Rest in peace, sir Kon.
